Pivotal in the establishment of the Polish extreme metal underground, Behemoth is both a popular and controversial band in their native Poland and around the world. Until the late 1990s, the band played traditional black metal with heathen lyrical content. However with the 1999 release of their fourth studio album Satanica, the band showed their presence in the blackened death metal scene by mixing their own signature style characterized by the drum work of Zbigniew Robert Prominski, multi-layered vocals and Nile-style Middle-Eastern influences with occult and thelemic themes. While the band has been categorized into many sub-genres the band's vocalist, Adam Michal Darski, has expressed displeasure in people trying to label the band. Behemoth formed in 1991 as a trio, starting with raw black metal rehearsal tapes with the most significant one being From the Pagan Vastlands showing the growing potential of the then teenage Adam Darski. From the Pagan Vastlands was released by Pagan Records in 1993 and lead to the composition and recording of Sventevith (Storming Near the Baltic) the first studio album by Behemoth in 1995 by Pagan Records. Their second studio album Grom has been the most discussed release thus far, due to its many different influences and musical styles, using female vocals as well as acoustic guitars and synthesizers. Two years later, the band recorded a third album, titled Pandemonic Incantations. The reactions of their ever-increasing fanbase and metal media set a new standard for them which lead to the successful album Satanica, on which their black metal sound had evolved into blackened death metal. Following albums releases have proven to be high successful and greatly increased their popularity. Behemoth however may at some point become banned from playing in their native country, Poland. In July 2007 the All-Polish Committee for Defense Against Sects distributed a list of bands that allegedly promote Satanism and murder that should be banned to many Polish officials which Behemoth is on. As of present, the list has not gone into effect, and Behemoth is still allowed to play in Poland freely. However in February 2008 the committee, which cited a bible-tearing incident at a concert in September 2007, had registered an official complaint.

  • @kingofthemoshpit2011 totally agreeing mate, but i can see where people are coming from, dont get mad at me for saying this, but Thelema and the teachings are a little similar to satanism, you know like Freedom, and self worship, and all that, its basically satanism without the greed, well in my view it is, i personally wish to read up on Thelema as it sounds like the only thing that makes sense these days, and because Behemoth believe in the teachings then its gotta be epic xD

  • @duderock009 I found out myself already. My comment was from pretty long ago. But thanks anyway. Great album btw!

  • @warzoneproduction the albums name is "thelema.6"

  • For the last fucking time, Behemoth isn't a Satanic band!! They believe in thelema, the teachings of Aleister Crowley, who wasn't a fucking satanist. Nergal tore a bible on stage and called it the book of lies. Satan is a reflection of evil from the Bible, hence if the bible is a lie, so is satan. That just shows he doesnt give a shit bout god or satan.

  • if it werent for mike hranica.. i wouldnt even be here..

  • If one person has an imanginary friend, he's crazy, if many people have the same imanginary friend, its called "Religion"

@iLoveBlackV3ilBr1d3s Go listen too your black veile bitches. I can't believe there are people like you, who can't believe that people van be different then you. Fuck off.

  • @iLoveBlackV3ilBr1d3s I'd love to see your god. Maybe he can tell us why we're so bad. Because aside from some extremist groups. Use Satanists are pretty laid back. We aren't all goat offering heathens. Some of us are respectable and just decide to believe what we like. Kinda like you, but we've never waged wars and killed millions of people, men woman and children over what we believe. Nor have we destroyed entire countries. Now who sounds like the bad religion?

  • ahhhhh behemoth what dimmu borgir hopes to be one day.

  • Hey folks,

Great song, I am new to this band. Can anyone tell me which album this is?

  • @iLoveBlackV3ilBr1d3s Well, you better believe it baby. It's hard for you to believe people like this, but easy for you to believe in an idea (god/christianity) with absolutely no logic? Interesting. I'm confused why you were on this video in the first place.
