Keo, a chimpanzee at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago turned 50 years old on June 26, 2008 making him the oldest chimp in captivity in North America. He enjoyed a birthday party complete with an ice sculpture with fruit frozen inside.

Sorry to disappoint, but Keo is not the oldest chimp in captivity. Cheetah (stage name) is 75 years old. Chimp Cheetah is alive and well at his owner's home/sanctuary in Palm Springs, Ca. Cheetah is very old, so.....by the time you read this, who knows?
