art/music. From the biography "Alice Nielsen and the Gayety of Nations," Marguerite Sylva of Belgium was one of three women in Nielsen's Victor Herbert shows who made a transition from Broadway to grand opera. Mezzo Sylva became a famed Carmen. After a time in Bedford NY, Sylva moved to Hollywood and finished her career as a movie character actor. She was featured on an early episode of TV's "This is your life." Here she sings two songs from Broadway with Arthur Albro and Carl Hayden, and then Bizet's Carmen.
