Soldiers - Original Film - Pyro Test [2007]

We planned on doing all of our FX in post, but recently we've found a pretty good source for actual live action pyrotechnics... To get the hang of it, we went out and shot another test sequence for our 'Soldiers' movie. We've also upgraded to a new HD cam, so we took the opportunity to test that aswell... Actual production of our war movie will start 2008, for a 2009 release (65th anniversary of D-Day). We will get a decent website up and running, where we will post the latest updates on this project.

Thanks! Actually it didn't cost that much at all to make this one... only 'major' expense was the pyro.

Do you hire out the costumes and weapons?

No, actually we're movie/game costumes and props collectors... so... If you take all that into account, ofcourse it'll cost some money... but we don't wanna think about that part too much ;)

what sort of camera did you use to film this? i like the cinematography

We used one of Canon's newest HD cams. Awesome image quality, but most of that sadly goes to waste compressing it for the Tube.

Practical fx are real nice. Good job. I have a call of duty fx test on my channel. All post stuff and kinda short. But I would like to see a comment with some ideas or something

Lots of post-processing needed. But the test looks all in all good, despite the unconvincing 'nade explosions. I really liked the headshot to the helmet. =]
