Travellin All Alone - Kenny Davern 1989
We see a performance of clarinetist Kenny Davern at the 1989 Bern International Jazz Festival. Kenny is one of the great stylists of traditional jazz. He followed in the footsteps of Jimmy Noone, Frank Teschemacher and Pee Wee Russell.
In this concert he is backed up by the trio of Howard Alden guitar, Milt Hinton bass and Gus Johnson drums
Muchísimas gracias, Jazzbobob. No me canso de ver este vídeo una y otra vez. Me encanta el tema musical y la forma de tocarlo. ¿Alguien sabe dónde se puede localizar esta partitura?

Kenny had one of the most beautiful of all the clarinet sounds, lovely woody timbre in the chalemeau register and underated as a high note specialist, really miss him on the scene.

Skitrees,
I didn't wish to demean all traditional clarinetist, but I can't accept that Pete Fountain is a traditional player. He is more in The Goodman mould. I don't know of Tim Laughlin, but I intend to find out.

MrAlexhutch,
I understand your sentiments to be a compliment to Kenny, but there is nothing wrong with being labled a "traditional" clarinetist. And please don't forget folks like Pete Fountain, Tim Laughlin and the like...there's still some of the greats left!! :) I'll be hearing both of them next week.
