This funky shuffle is inspired by groove master Zoro and his fantastic book, The Commandments of RnB Drumming.

A similar pattern can be found in Chapter Three - Gettin on the Good Foot. The groove is swung and controlled by the cymbal hand and bass drum, with a powerful snare hit on beats 2 and 4. The major difficulty is to lock the cymbal hand and bass drum tightly together, as they are playing the same notes.

Enjoy the groove - slow it down, speed it up and work that good foot...

  • how do you make you snare sound like this?

  • @unterhose666 @unterhose666 Hey there, It's all in the tuning, and having a nice drum head. Here I'm using an Evans G" coated head that's tuned medium-tight. The bottom hazy resonant head is tuned quite tight too. All the best, Louis Sellers
