Great tribute to a lovely man, whomever put this together thank you. I had the privilege of seeing and meeting him some 23 years ago, I am definitely a brass lover thanks to his music, and sadly the great players of his genre are all but gone. RIP Mr. Ferguson.

I remember hearing the announcement on KFI radio here in So Cal the day he died--know EXACTLY where I was. What a shock to me, because I never thought my hero would ever die. To say he was legendary is only a tenth of what one could say about this man. I had the great honor of hosting him at my high school (Pasadena High School) back in 1983, and got to meet him and talk to him. What a great day. And what a great man. Miss you Boss!! Fanaddict for Ferguson Forever!!

Made playing the high notes an art and an aspiration to us all. The best there is, the best there was. The best there will ever be.

Well said, I am 15 and have been playing his music nonstop since i first heard him......I just wish i would have been one of the lucky ones to have seen him in person. I would give anything to meet him and learn from him. Rest in peace Maynard. You are missed.

RIP, Maynard, on the fourth anniversary of your death.
One thing that Maynard should be remembered for is being a great band leader. Not only was he a great player, but he gave lots of younger guys their break. I saw Maynard at least a dozen times, and I was blown away every time. Nobody out there today riding the bus to inspire all the kids. We miss you MF.
