This is the last of three videos from my Junior Recital on April 3rd.

This work is a standard repertoire for marimba soloists. It is "Monograph IV" by Richard Gipson.

It features a very fast opening that returns for the ending and a slow middle section that features many chords. Unfortunately, I commit the cardinal sin of percussionists and leave the snare drum on at the start. I stop to turn it off in a (lame) attempt at humor. But it doesn't change the fact that I had to interrupt the piece for it.

Also, I did play one more piece besides this at the recital, but that is my Timpani Concerto that I've already uploaded from the Spring Percussion Ensemble concert. Therefore, I'm not gonna reupload it.

Next week, I will be getting back onto my Cover Schedule with "Lazarus".

  • accents in syncopated triplets?

  • @MaskedJalapeno well, my performance is definitely not perfect lol

  • i'm on rain dance at the moment. then doin' a musser etude. b or c major. then lookin' at frogs, gitano, and monograph iv to do my sophomore year of cllege.. yay small schools that don't teach 4 mallets! not

  • Lol, I've done the B major musser, that's pretty cool too. If you can handle that then Monograph IV is easy.

  • I just started this a couple days ago as my 3rd Marimba solo (first was Rain dance and 2nd was Etude in C major). This will probably be my last solo before I start at UNLV this year :).

  • Actually I've done Rain Dance. Who did the Etude?
