@craig1974 I would have put a by-pass pully in place of the A/C compressor and kept it going. I did that in the 96 Astro I had, but I sold that when the head gasket blew. Guy I sold it to fixed it, and it's still going strong with over 300,000 miles.

I like ur van craig my great uncle norm has a 1990 or 1991 chevy astro with i think it was 105,000 something miles or 110,000 something miles but the passenger door was from an 80's astro and the driver door(helped put on) is from a 1996 astro but the van keeps on running

So, do you still have this van? All Astro's and Safari's have the 4.3, except the first couple of years they put 2.5 litre 4-bangers in some of them.

@727JeffN No i got rid of it in early 2009 because the rear leaf springs failed, and i did not want to spend the money to have it fixed. My brother's friend Andy bought the van who fixed it with my brother the mechanic. He drove it for about a year until the AC compressor seized when he scrapped it. If the compressor was eliminated, or replaced i could of seen the van lasting another 100 thousand miles it ran so good. It had the 4.3
