John F. Kennedy Assassination & State Funeral — 1st (Raw) Video Edit 2003 by William Castronuovo

1. "All" audio and visual content in this video is original
to the actual events shown; no "filler" footage, real or
fabricated, was used in any clip.

2. The actual assassination segment was edited in "real
time" from ten different home movie cameras in the vicinity
at the moment the incident occurred at 12:30 PM CST,
Friday, Nov. 22, 1963.

3. All armed services marching band audio, the three news
reports, and sound effects are actual to the event; only the
first three minutes of the segment was dubbed with music
appropriate to the visual content. Music used in the first
portion: The primary theme from the film (2002) "Road to
Perdition" by Thomas Newman.

4. The visual quality, both excellent and not so, of the
content was assembled using both analog and digital
sources; some footage is the best currently available.

5. The still images were directly obtained from the John
F. Kennedy Library in Boston.

About this YouTube video:

"November 1963" is a study in analog video editing that was
done between 2002 and 2003. This segment is a rough-cut (raw)
version "open" for future revisions. It was the very first attempt at
digital video editing by William Castronuovo. All segment splices,
audio mixing, and transitions, were done by Castronuovo at his
Washington, D.C. photography and videography studio called
Red Box Art. Only Apple Mac computers were used in creating
this movie.

The clips come from more than 80 hours of raw source footage
from the William Castronuovo collections of print and various
A/V documents. A number of still images were made available by
the John F. Kennedy Library.

Applications used in the making of this video: Final Cut by Apple,
iMovie and QuickTime Pro by Apple, Adobe Photoshop CS4, Slick
Transitions by GeeThree, DivX Converter (compression), iTunes,
Sony DVD Deck, Hollywood DV-Bridge by Dazzle, QuarkXPress,
Preview, GarageBand by Apple, TextEdit, and Microsoft Word.

Thank you. - I remember - although only 8 years of age at the time - very well many of the scenes, which were televised also in Denmark. It took also the Danes with indescribable sorrow and shock.

Being 57, I VIVIDLY remember those terrible days.

I was 9 years old & visiting family in Baltimore. I watched as the event unfolded, & remember being shocked so bad by the turn of events, I called my Aunt back home in Arkansas to tell her. I also remember watching the transfer of Oswald live when he was also shot.

I can't remember ANY OTHER news events, besides the Cuban missle crisis and 9-11, where the world was totally gripped BY that news.

HI. Great work. I nooticed you said this was compiled from 80 hrs or more of raw vid.

My boss just passed away, and he was a member of the Navy band during the funeral. I have been trying to track down footage of the Navy Band specifically in the funeral procession, but have been unable to do so. Any suggestions where I might look? Perhaps there was footage of the Navy band in the raw material you worked with? I would be, as would his family, most grateful for any suggestions!
