  • I just love this beautiful music and the pictures of St Petersburg. Since I saw Eugene Onegin I knew I must visit and experience the beauty of the city in person. Of course I must go to Moscow, too. Thank you for this sensuous music.

  • Welcome to Russia, Genia. Hope, your visit to my country will be interesting.

  • A spontaneous and intimate performance of the touching story played out in this

poignant romance. The expression of this timeless tale is direct and immediate

with the simple guitar accompaniment! Later renditions are more grandiose and

melodramatic! For me, this wonderful way of singing will never go out of style!

Thank you LHaritonov for sharing this marvelous post! Spasibo!

  • Very Pretty. Thanks!

  • This is interesting for several reasons, besides the fact that it is a very beautiful recording. The singing style is Roma, and the Roma brought that style to Spain. When that style met the north African style, it became flamenco. But the Roma may have previously got that singing style from Russia - we don't know.

In the UK, we had hand-tinted postcards with the same red labelling ca.1900-1905. The UK cards were printed in Saxony.

  • Thanks! C
