The argument that an innocent person might be put to death is the only argument I've heard that has any merit. However, more innocents have been murdered by escaped or released murderers. Do they not count?
To me the answer is to try to make the justice system better. Nothing is foolproof, but don't think for a minute that by abolishing the death penalty you'll be making a more just society.

fucking hell must be awful beeing locked up in a cell living each day thinking it will be your last, knowing you are innocent but every one else thinking you are guilty >.<

you shall not murder, actually. but that's from the old testament too.
not that it matters, mat 5:17-20 says the old stuff still applies. not to mention jesus had a habit of quoting the OT at his followers, and even at satan.

@pyr666 How can you say that God supports deathpenalty? The Bibleverses you are referring too,is from The Old Testament! But after Jesus came and died for us,we do not have that law.In fact,we do not have any right to kill!!The Bible also say YOU SHALL NOT KILL!

Idiotic comments. Of course this is argument against death penalty. You just believe, that anything can be proved, and that is exactly the statement discredited by scientists.
Tell me how come, that people believe they can win a lottery, by they don't believe they can be mistaken for a murderer and/or forced to plead guilty.
Seriously, you are just plain dumb and vengeful.

The question here is not the death penalty. The issue is evidence collection being tightened up. is this video saying the thousands of cold blooded murderers who are 100% guilty should escape the DP?
Those were coerced CONFESSIONS, not guilty pleas. There is a difference. Also, none of those defendants were convicted because of any physical or eye witness evidence. In the Herrera case, there was physical evidence tieing him to the scene of Carisalez shooting and eye witness testimony tieing him to the Rucker shooting.

The death Penalty is shit. That man who really killed the cop had to make a split second decision on whether or not to kill him. If HE was convicted, there would have been a huge build uup to his death and he would have known he was going to die every step of the way. The death penaly is the most cold blooded type of murder there is.
Peace...
