This is a Mandola. Is it the same thing as an Octave Mandolin? Or is it different? I am trying to find a certain instrument, it is some kind of Italian mandolin, but I do not know what it is. It sounds similar to this instrument, or a balalaika. It has very good projection and the high notes are very bright. The sound has a lot more volume and is beautiful, and is fuller and louder than your typical bowl back mandolin. This instrument might be it. Is it the same as an octave mandolin?

This is NOT guitar. It's a mandola - tuned like a mandolin, but lower.
