  • that is genius

  • I like how the headlights rotate like 120 degrees.

  • Fiero's rule!

  • However you look at it, there's no way that GM killed the Fiero to preserve the Corvette. They were targeted at completely different demographics.

  • They then took the "horrible concept" of the Fiero and started the Saturn division, all of them being based in the same "space frame" design and having the revolutionary body panels that were hard to dent and very light and that didn't rust.

Also, the Fiero was 10 times as safe as any Vette and so is Saturn more safe than anything else made by GM.

  • The fire issues were only in 84 and were recalled and didn't happen anymore.

In 85-88 it had an optional v6 that took it into the low 15s and it rode on a newly developed "space frame" that in 84-87 borrowed suspension parts from the Chevette.

In 88 Pontiac got their OWN design out on the lots which was like driving a different car and had nothing in common with anything else.

THAT is when GM killed the Fiero.

  • Don't forget it had a four-cylinder engine and a plastic interior worse than the Corvette's, riding on the Chevette chassis and overheating all the time.

  • Ugh! All you Corvette snobs. The Fiero was half the price and handled BETTER. That's why it was killed when Pontiac perfected it in 88.

  • I had two of those. They rode like crap, were pretty junky, rattles, etc, but the looks you got were unforgetable. The best looking car ever.

  • Best Corvette design was 63-67. And it was also one of the best car designs ever, of any brand, any year. I wish Chevrolet had continued to build and refine this model Corvette the way Porsche continually improved the original 911 design.
