  • I wear my prosthesis all time except when I'm relaxing or sleeping.

  • Was it hard to learn to write with your left hand? Do you use any other types of terminal devices, such as a cosmetic hand? How often do you wear/use your prosthesis?

  • I have a fake hand, but I don't like to wear it. Hands are less functional than hooks I don't know why, but to me it is much more appealing to have a "real" hook than a "fake" hand!

  • Great video! Were you a right-handed or left-handed person before your accident? Does that make a difference in your use of the hook?

  • Thanks! I was right handed before my accident. I've had no choice but to use my left hand, so I guess that makes me ambidextrous. I imagine that if I had the hook on my left hand, that I might not use it as much.

  • have you ever thought about getting an electric can opener? its definitely not as cool though.

  • Electric, eh? Tell me more about this "electricity" of which you speak... :)

  • I completely agree with you. After the first glance, the hook is actually a very appealing "accessory" not unlike a pair of glasses or a favorite T-shirt. If you've got it, flaunt it -- like those new style macho leg prostheses.

  • Great informative video. Thanks.

  • How much of your forearm survived the explosion? It looks like most of it did. Do you have any wrist movement (rotation)? Does the arm with the hook end up the exact length of your other arm when both arms are fully extended, or is there a difference in the length of the two? Pardon me if I'm invading your space too much; I'm just not very familiar with the way these things work. It would be great to see some visual demonstrations of how the hook is used in daily situations -- eating, etc.

  • LOL!!!!

  • great videos

    you are an awesome person

one other thing i teach the iraq veterans i work with is that they also make left and right handed can openers. And to the guy that said about the electricity yes they are available but there is such an accomplishment when you dont have one of those and you can still open the can yourself. you learn the hardest way first just in case in the future your electricity goes out....and you get hungry. LOL

    Thank you again
