Don't think of cleaning your windows as drudgery. Think of it as a way to—as the song says—'let the sunshine in...'

To complete this How-To you will need:

A bucket
Some warm water
Some white vinegar
A large sponge
A squeegee
Several cloths or towels
And some ammonia-free cleaner
Some newspaper
And a vacuum cleaner with a bristle brush attachment

Step 1: Pick a time

Pick a time to wash your windows when the sun isn't hitting them directly.

Step 2: Mix solution

In the bucket, mix a solution that's one part water to one part vinegar.

Step 3: Wipe window

Dip a sponge into the solution, squeeze out the excess, and wipe the window clean.

Step 4: Use squeegee

Drag the squeegee from the top to the bottom of the window in one smooth, steady motion.

Tip: If you don't have a squeegee, you can dry the window with clean, lint-free cloths or a few crumpled sheets of black and white newspaper.

Step 5: Remove excess water

Rub the squeegee with a cloth or towel to remove excess water.

Step 6: Continue with squeegee

Continue dragging the squeegee, overlapping the strokes one at a time, until you've removed all the cleaning solution.

Tip: Be sure to dry each window right after to you sponge it or you'll end up with streaks.

Step 7: Dry sill & frame

Dry the windowsill and frame with a cloth, then step back and admire the view.
