Talkin to my local guitar dealer who was an ex sound guy, got to record leo in the 60s. He showed me one recording where leo accompanies a female singer for her own song, doing all the instrumentation himself at quick speed. He had never heard her song before and wasn't given directions, but it was pretty incredible.

i have a thunderous guild twelve string. it's so awesome to play this song on it. Leo is so cool. i have written a few songs in his vein but I need to write a few dozen more before i come up with anything nearly as cool as this.

@TheXLCHKid Thorogood is on tour in your home country! Great guitarist and gives a damn good show. I first saw him back in 82 at a Stones Concert where he was the support band. Lot younger then of course. He came on wearing stacked heel snakeskin boots wielding a white Gibson with gold fittings. I just thought OMG this is going to be awful. Then he ripped into the opening song......and just blew me away!! Got home and ordered every single album he'd made! Recommend you see him!

@Bulletguy07 Perhaps Leo doesn't like watching the wings flap in rough weather.
I had not heard of George Thorogood, but after seeing a couple You Tube vids, it
looks like George certainly knows where the strings are. Though I MAY have passed
over a small portion of Canada on the way from Seattle to Anchorage, I have never
been out of the US. I DO, however, have a sister-in-law from the UK, and a late
cousin who lived with her husband in Germany, the limits of my international exposure.

@TheXLCHKid Just four years separate Kottke and Thorogood (Kottke 66 and GT 62). But both are mere 'youngsters' in comparison to the Blues Master himself....MR BB KING who this September will turn 87 and is STILL touring!! Even more amazing BB often comes over to the UK and i've had the pleasure of seeing him play here three times. If he comes to the UK this year I will certainly be going to see him.
Maybe Kottke doesn't like flying!!!?

@Bulletguy07 I certainly won't miss any chance to see him whenever he is in MY area.
Leo's not getting any younger, and he likely plays as often as the spirit moves him. He
has been known to appear on PBS, (The Public Broadcasting System) over here.

@TheXLCHKid I agree he certainly is a brilliant guitarist and i've been a fan for years.....but i'm not amazed he isn't more widely followed. The reasons are simple. He rarely tours outside the USA. By comparison George Thorogood tours here in the UK and Europe practically every year....and often in small Club venues too. Kottke won't do that. I think he's only ever been in the UK a couple of times and that was back in the 70's. So that is why he has never been widely followed.

@Bulletguy07 There's a Kottke TV special from years back, called Home and Away: probably ran on PBS.

I'll never forget going into the Auditorium in Chicago to see Leo when this album was released. I was staring at the stage wondering how many other guitars were playing, backing him up.. off stage even. This is such a masterwork!

@solflare111 you betcha!i have 11 of his LP's and have seen him perform in some special venues.THE BEST!
Its sad this masterpiece only has 2,178 views and 1 comment on here, while Katy Perry has 70+ million. Leo Kottke is such a beast.

This was playing in the background of a financial radio program this morning, and it
was instantly recognizable as Leo's work. I had the pleasure of seeing Leo in concert
twice at the Woodstock, IL Opera house, and he is a magician with his guitars! It is
amazing he is not more widely followed. This record is in my collection.
