@QsoftStudios I used Linux From Scratch as the base, which will get you the basic system installed, then "Community Driven Beyond Linux From Scratch" for some misc apps (including Xorg); compiz fusion, bbkeys, gmrun and setting hotkeys completes my non-desktop OS. It's quite a bit of effort to get it running, but the system grows with you as you use it; I haven't done a recompile since the video was made, but the system is quite different - it grew in the directions I needed as I needed it.
looks pretty cool but i think its a bit hard to work with a workspace like this...

Can you do a tutorial on how to do this? the only thing I can find is SuSE Studio and I want to base mine off of ubuntu or debian, not SuSE.
