A reminder about the way Americans used to live and think, as opposed to how we still live today, The American Dream asks the question, how different are we, really, than we were fifty or sixty years ago? The American Dream questions what the American dream is, exactly, and if it's still alive in the United States now, today.

Meet John and Mary, as they rise from bed, wondering what exactly is missing in their lives. They know they work hard and do everything they are supposed to do, but for some reason, they don't seem to have the happiness they just know is missing.

Frustrated, they cannot even seem to name this "thing," they believe would cure whatever has them feeling the way they feel. It appears this void in their lives, has created a chasm in their bed as well; John and Mary sleep in twin beds.

But our story gets interrupted for a breaking news story from Europe, and suddenly we've lost our way--- is this still The American Dream, or some lurid nightmare? Will The American Dream ever be found, or even worse, did it ever really exist, or was it just a figment of our collective imaginations?

The American Dream breaks new ground, and alters the cinematic landscape forever. You'll know this is true, because we tell you in the opening minutes.

Quite simply, The American Dream is a masterpiece and if you do not take the time to watch it, you will never know what it's like to truly question your soul, and wonder, deep down inside, if you've ever really taken a hard look at yourself, ever really evaluated your life, and come to realize exactly what your American Dream is.

The darkest of dark humor, jJack Midknight has crafted a work for the ages, and presents a vision that compels us to both look backward, and look at how we live today.

jJack uses the resources of Creative Commons Public Domain footage to create a brand new work of art from existing film(s) from the past, bringing it alive in a completely different way, and for completely different reasons than those for which the original works were created.

  • truthadvocate, you seem to be one of the few people that actually understands the message of this short film. thanks for checking out more of my stuff.

  • Apparently Texas is only for steers and queers that aren't smart enough to understand what the hell they are watching. *chuckle*

The USA is the greatest nation on earth, and has been since it's inception--- morons like you are apparently unable to grasp the self evident meaning of the videos you are watching.

  • YOu could answer that yourself, but in my opinion, yes-- they've changed a great deal.

  • @MajorMidknight Save your rhetoric and propaganda for someone who actually believes your bullshit. Greatest nation on earth? Spoken like someone who has never traveled and visited other places in the world. You're trillions in debt. Soon no country will buy it anymore, your innovation and technology is years behind other modern industrial countries, and right now you're a slave to China who could pull the rug out from you at any second. This video depicts a country that was, not is.

  • The American Dream is not about social justice, equal poverty for all with no incentive nor reward to succeed. The American Dream is about the free market. It rewards those who make it with both money and feelings of accomplishment.

    .

The American Dream is not a welfare state for all. It challenges all to become better to get the things they truly want in life. There will always be poor. Why should we abolish the middle class for the elitist desire to redefine the American Dream?

  • American Dream is gone. Vatican-Pope-Jesuits-illuminati-NAZIS-CFR (luciferian jews) run the world. All secret societies, organized religions ruled by an elite bloodline, same bloodline ruling from Egypt 2 Rome British (European) Empire - America Empire (1913 Fed Reserve. Presidents & King stand at whim of the real power which is the priest hood (Priests - Bishops - Cardinals - Pope) standing behind the throne - trying to form it's one world luciferian gov't.

  • I'll bet SEIU and the other Unions will be there soon too fix all of this, I wonder how this American Dream story will end, Oh yes!! I know this is a historical film, the union will drive the wages up so the they can skim the money of the top using that money to pave the way for a socialist government that in return will then give more power back to the unions eventually making American business uncompetitive thus closing down or moving out of America. Nice! great story.

  • i agree we need to make ourselves the old america..we need to make our kids conserve our old way of life and conseve our new technologies without spoiling ourselves,,we live in grim times indeed in america...with democrats in offfice...kids with guns, AND drugs. these days its dangerous to go to a dennys near night...we need a man who enforces the rules of a days work for a days pay..a republican like ronald reagan...but unfortunetly these days our kids are stupid, but as americans we will prevai

  • New we are lulled to sleep by our TVs and iPods that are produced in other countries. Here we buy them with money we earned by pushing papers and moving make believe money, or selling other foreign-made products. We wait for our weak leaders to solve our problems. Our leaders don't inspire us to change, they don't inspire us to victory. They inspire us to sleep.

  • cool of wearing life..

  • so i guess The American dream was deluded back then too
