This video is a response to a tag by PoetLina. You can see her reading of An Arundel Tomb by Phillip Larkin here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYOlGsR9BOQ
LATE EDIT: I almost forgot to explain, the tag is simply to read a poem by another poet that we liked, something that is pretty in line with what I normally do, so I chose to follow PoetLina's lead and tie my reading thematically into hers.
I know people are not always fond of getting tagged, but I find a good game of tag can be fun, and since PoetLina, a favorite of mine, was tagged by tinySpectacle, another favorite of mine, I had to pass it on to yet another of my favorite YouTube poets, Poemsapenny each! Hopefully she will still be my friend after this. ;-)
(I had thought about you, Mr. David Randal Curtis, but it seems tinySpectacle has tagged you hard in the past, and I figured you had earned a break).
I like this poem, with its ambiguous title and loose connections to love, death, ropes and waves. And this gave me a perfect opportunity to collaborate with my beloved BPK (look for a longer collaboration coming soon!). I originally thought this was "Snow" by Loreena McKennitt that Brian was playing, but he was actually improving a bit to go with the reading. Which I think is marvelously thoughtful of him. You may listen to his magical playing on his own on his channel here: http://www.youtube.com/wbarreguy
A Book Of Music
by Jack Spicer
Coming at an end, the lovers
Are exhausted like two swimmers. Where
Did it end? There is no telling. No love is
Like an ocean with the dizzy procession of the waves' boundaries
From which two can emerge exhausted, nor long goodbye
Like death.
Coming at an end. Rather, I would say, like a length
Of coiled rope
Which does not disguise in the final twists of its lengths
Its endings.
But, you will say, we loved
And some parts of us loved
And the rest of us will remain
Two persons. Yes,
Poetry ends like a rope.
Thank you, Helina! Sorry, it took me so long to complete. :)
Thanks so much--one of Spicer's more accessible ones--a terrific poem. Great informal performance, too.

@langstonify Thanks, L! I am glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to do it with BPK's improv music. I have another spicer poem that I am about to upload.

@ASAngelo Thank you, Angelo. I showed Brian your comment and he glowed. He speaks very highly of you, and I can see for good reason.
