Windows Phone 7 changes the way applications are loaded into memory and mitigates a significant choke point - there are both asset load and memory management changes. As a result, applications load dramatically faster as shown here. The Samsung Taylor development phone on the left is running the OS patch which will be released in the coming months, the phone on the right is not.

I am really attracted to wp7. right now I have a 3GS on at&t. let me tell you... at&t's 3g service SUCKS DICK on Long Island. I've still stuck in contract with at&t until december. it's getting unbearable.

@simbadogg Sadly this is the entire video, but he goes on to say that all the other updates are in the minor category and won't have a measurable improvement. We also asked about JavaScript and browser changes, of which there apparently aren't any speed improvements.
