With small hands but strong efforts from the environmental youth group of Ban Pa-Klok, a highly educated documentary film about conserving the environment and nature sources was produced. Our reporter observed how they worked. Grasses and trees were planted in the wetland forest by students from Rak-Ban-Rao or Love Our Village group from the Ban Pa-Klok community, at Thalang area, in Phuket province. The planting was part of a program where students from Virasatree-Anusorn School learn how to conserve environmental and natural resources. The school is transforming wetland forest of 400 rai into a big natural classroom for students to learn about plants, fish and natural lives. It is an experience that they cannot find in any normal classroom. Therefore the kids had put their best efforts and good hearts into producing films based on their knowledge about the environment and forest.

Arkom Ladsom, Student & cameraman, said:
I believe that the wetland forest is a useful place for people to live in, grow plants and take care of small animals in the forest. We also help grow trees and plants. You can cut the trees in this forest, but you have to plant more trees. If you cut one tree, you have to plant five trees.

Patcharanan Chanachon, Student & President, Ban-Rak-Rao, said:
When I was participating in this program it gave me knowledge about what is in the forests and in the ocean. The most important part is Pa-Klok and the sea can be described as my second home. The school is also my third home. I dearly love and feel possessive over this school.

The kids here helped brainstorm the idea of scripts, plots, camera angles, subtitles and editing their works with computer programs. They have Noon and Koong as their main camera girls filming all the activities that their friends were doing. The first camera was a sponsored gift from the CHARM or Coastal Habitats and Resources Management, and the first documentary film made by the students was called The Forest of Life, which belongs to their Lae-Ban-Pan-Lenses or Through Our Village with the Lenses project. From then on, the students were inspired and decided to continue working on their next documentary films and received an award for their project called Save the Forest, Save the Seas which belongs to Think Earth project. But the most inspirational and proud award they have ever received was a Green Globe national award, categorized as a youth group award.

Mana Sammuang, Teacher of Ban-Rak-Rao students, said:
Everything we taught the kids was all about participating in the project and is a part of this environment. We are a community as a whole and we often consider how well we should take care of our forests. And the solution was that we have the real community who are professional care takers in this field to teach us how to conserve the environment and animals in the area. If we want to know about the forest, we will go into the forest and learn the real stuff. This experience cannot be found anywhere else, not even in any classroom.

With the helping hands from the students of Rak-Ban-Rao or Love Our Village group in protecting and preserving the natural sources and forests for the benefit of knowledge not only in the classroom but also outside, this has helped broaden the students visions and thoughts. This knowledge will not only apply to students but also to people in the community. Students will learn how to take good care of their environments including wetland forests, sea grasses, and marine lives. This will result in animals long lives, safe environment and beautiful scenery for the happiness in the Andaman area.
