My old S-10 pickup with a 151 Iron Duke. Has been my daily driver for a few years now. I'm the second owner. 140,000 miles and it runs like new (many hours of work put into it!!!) Rebuilt from the ground up when I got it at 113K.

Sounds good for a 4 banger.

  • Are the 2.8s good ona gas?

  • You would probably get about 18-28 mpg depending on if its an automatic or stick.. They're pretty good engines.

  • Sounds like a deal to me, as long as its in pretty good shape I'd say you can't go wrong with that. I've had 2 and the only problems I ever had were basic stuff like a few gaskets and an E-brake cable. They're pretty good solid trucks.

  • bad assed look too btw.

  • Thanks!! If you want more good info on the engine, check out the Wikipedia page. Just search for "Iron Duke (engine)" I tried once to post a link to it but I don't think youtube will let me do that.

  • @TheClemsonDude

main problem with the 2.8's are they start needing as much oil as an 2-stroke when the milage gets high (burn and leak oil with excessive milage)

  • dose any one have the stock 1981 Chevy hubcaps

    plz ill will buy

  • i have a rare 1979 pontiac sunbird with the 2.5 and it runs ok, but it also has a carb instead of fuel injection. a note to the 2.8, i have never had good luck with them. blown head gaskets. i put two in an 86 s10 blazer 4x4. maybe better with manual trans and 2wd.

  • as a matter of fact my friend's brother has a 1993 s10 with a 2.8 and he said he wants 1200 dollars for it. it only has 91k miles on it.

  • The 2.8 Liter will obviously give you better gas mileage than the 4.3 and they also run forever. A friend of mine has one that has over 400K miles on it. And good luck, I hope you find a good one!

  • thanks for the website. and about the link thing, i wast able to post one on youtube when i tried. so thanks again for everything. :)

  • thanks, i need a new truck and i ahve to drive like that to get to work. so i will probably get one with a 2.8 maybe a 4.3 if the truck is cheap enough.
