Season: 1
Episode: 5
Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company

Ford, one of the most well-known car companies in the world, was founded in 1903. Ford has unveiled many concepts in their 107 year history. One of their first supercar concept's, however was the 1962 Mustang concept. In 1970, Ford unveiled the Mach 2 concept. The Mach 2 is based on the De Tomaso Pantera chassis and engine. If the Mach 2 was produced, it would have been a challenger to the Corvette. The rear-end design was majorly influenced by the 1962 Corvair Monza GT. In 1984, the Maya concept was unveiled, and then "the world's mightiest supercar," the GT90 was revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January 1995. It had an acclaimed top speed of 235mph which was delivered from a 720hp, quad-turbocharged, V12 engine. And then, just one year later, the IndiGo was unveiled. The IndiGo was a concept built to show what Ford had in the Indy car tech department. The car had a monocoque chassis that held the 435hp 6.0L V12. Sometime later, in 2004, the amazing Shelby Cobra concept was revealed at the North American International Auto Show, or NAIAS. It boasted an all-aluminum 605hp, 6.4 liter, V10 that would send the car all the way to 185mph, though it was limited to 100mph. Then, one year later, at the next NAIAS, Ford unveiled the $2.2 million dollar Shelby GR-1. The GR-1 was inspired and resembles the Shelby Daytona. The GR-1's chassis was based on the Cobra concept's from the previous year.

  • esta bien chido

  • I always thought it would be BADASS if Ford would take their 4.9I6 truck engine, and mate two of them into a V-12 block, making a 9.8Litre MONSTER (obviously with some sort of overhead cam and possibly a turbo or two...or four) With today's technology can you imagine the kinds of numbers an engine of that magnitude would/could produce? Especially with some sort of Cylinder Deactivation? The engine could cruise and idle as a 6, while having full power available at a moment's notice!
