Education should not be treated like a competition, business or a profitable matter of whatever sort. Soon education will only be available to the rich and wealthy while people like me who are willing to dedicate all their spare time to study in debt for the rest of our lives before finishing university and being lucky enough to even find a job in the current climate that our country is in!

British Universities ARE crap. That's why most students have difficulty staying awake during lectures. By letting markets decide the price, Unis will have to truly compete, and standards will sky rocket. Students will learn more, and the UK will become a more interesting place. Lecturers don't want a market system because it will mean them having to learn how to teach, instead of just being pretentious clever clogs.

Isn't the problem that the government has made the promise to get 50% kids into university and now says, "Oh there isn't enought cash to do this..."
