@FeelOfFriction Yeah that's one of the reasons he was so prolific. He couldn't hold down a normal job so he had to make his living from writing. Considering how badly paid SF writers were at the time, he had to write a story a week (plus novels! Sometimes 2 or 3 a year) just to eat and pay his bills. A lot of those stories aren't exactly well-written but they still have more ideas in them than the average SF trilogy.

For most writers, keeping it as a side interest seems to be the healthiest perspective. Even if you have some measure of success, if you don't have to rely upon it, you are able to enjoy it much more. I write short stories in my free time, and I am pursuing magazine publication. I think that's it fun because I don't have to depend upon it; I may do it whenever I am in the mood to do so. If I choose to spend my free time on other things, then I do. Ledger as the Joker: "Why so serious?"

@blisterpacman Thank you for some utterly useless knowledge about a nasty drug that I want nothing to do with. I'll file it in my brain under the other superfluous things I know. Did you know that the colossal squid's eyeball is the size of a soccer ball? I watched a documentary yesterday about it.

@subsamadhi Because this was obviously filmed at the exact time of their meeting. She's had a history of drug abuse, some years have passed, I don't think anyone is "sexy" after having lived a rough life.
