  • The TV Times. I never knew there was so much in it.

  • The Young Ones did that. Very funny.

  • Channel 4 had only just started at this time!

  • Yeah, you're right. By the way I have a clip of the 3D film mentioned in the TV Times ad. Will be posting that soon.

  • Ceefax and Oracle were both teletext services for the BBC and ITV respectively. ITV's was called Oracle for years before they reverted to just calling it Teletext! Channel 4's teletext was called 4 Tel. Yes, Channel 4 had only just started at that time, only a few weeks old when this was shown on ITV. I imagine Look In also gave away the 3D specs as that was the junior TV Times. I used to get Look In!

  • LWt hd

  • well, it's also a requirement that 'cross-channel' spots are aired a certain number times per hour or per day, but they are also the first thing that goes up when no spots were sold.

  • To be strictly speaking this isn't an "ad break" as Oracle and TV Times were both services provided by the ITV companies, thus it is best described as a cross-promotion break (used as a filler when no spots sold).

  • And of course Oracle came before Teletext.

  • That Oracle one looks so quaintly retro these days! But it was state of the art stuff back then.

  • Looks like it's the Magic tour, that's Janick Gers (now of Iron Maiden) on guitar and the song being started there is Vengeance. Wonder if anyone's got that programme to upload? Gillan circa 1982 rocked!

  • Think I've still got them 3d glasses somewhere..
