Future Before Nostalgia...Life Beyond The Music

In anticipation of the long awaited debut album from Rasheed Chappell, Future Before Nostalgia (Produced entirely by Kenny Dope) we present to you an in depth look inside the mood, mindset & making of this project. The buzz has been steadily growing since word got out that Kenny Dope was going back to his Hip Hop roots.

After having international success as one half of the legendary house duo MAW, critical acclaim as a solo producer & receiving Grammy nominations for his work with Raheem DeVaughn, as well as packing clubs from here to China, Kenny felt the time was right to complete his musical journey where it all began, with Hip Hop.

Kenny boldly states "Rasheed Chappell is THE artist I have been waiting my whole career to work with." Considering that Kenny has produced for such Hip Hop legends as Raekwon The Chef & neophyte rhyme slingers the likes of Joell Ortiz & Royce Da 5'9", acts ranging from house to funk, from pop to R&B, the world has been waiting.

With the release of "Building 8" in early 2010 the world would get it's 1st taste of what Future Before Nostalgia had in store. Voted as one of the top 50 songs of 2010 by Kevinnottingham.com, the song would land them on Sirius XM, Alist Radio & PNCradio.fm, blogs from here to France and even in the pages of WARP Magazine from Japan.

The follow up to "Building 8" was "What I'm Here 4", with this song Kenny & Rasheed enlisted the help of world renowned DJ/Turntabilist/Producer/2010 Winner of Master of the Mix & member of iconic Hip Hop group EPMD, DJ Scratch. The missing art of DJ'ing and cutting on a hook was on full display and added a nostalgic feel to the record which got the attention and spins from such noted DJ's as DJ Premier, DJ Eclipse, Tony Touch, Lord Sear & others.

The stage has now been set & all the pieces are in place. July 12th 2011 will be the end of the wait, the journey complete. Rasheed has not only maintained his poise in the spotlight that is often cast on new comers when working with a legend, but he has flourished. Kenny has recaptured his love for the music he listened to as a kid in Sunset Park Brooklyn. Together this tandem can cement themselves in the halls of Hip Hop.
