My first impression of Elisa 0.3.5 by Fluendo ( http://elisa.fluendo.com/ ) running on Ubuntu 7.10. It has no TV support yet, but you can watch videos (also from YouTube directly), images (also from flickr) and listen to music (Shoutcast browsing is possible).

My first impression: great! Looks much better than MythTV and also "feels" better while using it.

(I apologize for the poor quality, I have yet to find a screen recorder I really like ;)

  • Very impressive man. Looks way better than windows media center! LOL, hope it will work well on 8.04

  • It still has a few glitches they need to work out, sometimes the image viewer stops displaying thumbnails or images alltogether. If you take into consideration that this is still an early stage of development it is very impressive what they have accomplished until now :)

  • how did you get the visuals?

  • At first, I just thought it was a simple ripp-off of Front Row on Mac (and it really looks like it), but this look just better!

Music that continues during the navigation, so are the movies, visualisations, YouTube...

Damn, you know what I would want? A Multimedia HDD with μLinux and Elisa. That would be so great! But I doubt Python would fit to such small spaces and power as the processors on current HDDs.
