great review. guts is probably the most bad ass manga/anime character of all time up with kenshiro, char aznable, and dio. ive never really noticed that they tended to change costumes much. i thought it was more for convenience, but never considered that as a quality until now. i wonder if costs is why they can't make any more anime. and the music though i do agree is not with the theme, but goes well with the action and intensity.

I thought I'd hear from you on this one, since I know it's at the top of your favorites.

That the characters age a bit every few episodes and change garb means lots of new character design sheets and fewer chances to reuse old cels.

Perhaps J TV, even late night, has gotten less forgiving of violence these days? Which may be another reason for no sequel (I think they'd have to put some of the parts of the manga they skipped back into the story.)

Berserk is damn good. Just saw the first 5 episodes a few days ago. Can't wait to watch the rest of it.

I love Berserk! I pretty much rejected anime and manga for most of my life and really only thought it had was childish, weak story but then someone recommended the Berserk manga I fell in love with it and it really made me open my eyes to more anime and manga. But great review and I hope to find some great other series by watching more of your stuff.

great review, this is one of my favorites. Such a shame this can't get a second season, the author commented that this isn't getting one because the demand for anime with a fighting hero is not great. so sad, the manga gets so much better in the latter parts, in my opinion.

Ah, coming into the better known anime aren't we Oji-san? Can't imagine you're running out of "smaller" titles to review yet, or is it that you find most anime are those "they who shall not be named" 1-star ratables? ; )

There's not much I can say, though; my friends are more into it than I am...although the outtakes are their favorite parts...

The only bad thing about the manga is that it feels like it will may never finish... I haven't read any volumes in years and I believe it still isn't completed. It's well illustrated, vivid and engaging. Worth your time by any means, in my opinion.
