  • what is better sks or 243

  • It really depends on what your looking for in a rifle. The SKS is roughly a .30 caliber semi-auto, not really that light but because of this has only a little more recoil then a .22 caliber, but not very accurate beyond 200-250 meters. The 243 it a smaller caliber bolt action and has a lot of recoil for the size of the weapon, but accurate to about 350-400 meters. I prefer the SKS because the availability of ammo, its semi-auto capabilities, and the low recoil.

  • Have you heard the misconception with the diameter of the SKS round ? 7.62x39 =?, If you take out an 8mm rifle round, you will see the bullet is exactly the same. And when you use a calibration device - you will find out it rounds out to 7.92, the exact caliber of an 8mm. So why lie about the cal? Or are they using a different measuring system then American and metric?

  • The SKS uses the 7.62 X 39, the same as the AK-47. This is a Russian round. You must be talking about the 7.92 X 33 that is a German round in such weapons as the Stg-44, which is also known as the "8mm". I fire the same rounds through my SKS as I do with my Romanian AK.

  • I never stated that I was talking about a different round. Grab a 7.62x39 and run it through an electronic burnier caliber - the actual bullet piece will read 7.92. Why there is a double standard I do not know. Its possible like the 30-06 shell changed since the 1870s that the 7.62x39 got changed to 7.92x39 and the name is being kept the same. I know my history - its cool - just use an electronic burnier caliber - and compare it to that of a 30-06 bullet (7.62) and an 8mm (7.92) and you will see

  • Ok, I'm not saying that your wrong, I may not be understanding exactly what you're saying. But I don't see how a 7.92 will go through the barrel of my SKS that was made for 7.62, unless the Russians copied the bullet exactly and changed the name so they can call it their own. Because everyone knows they do that a lot.

  • @Trygar1987 haha what .22 have you been shootin that moves your shoulder that much

  • who disliked the video so much? Litterally tree huggers

  • I have a russian sks and i love it....70 round drum....i could shoot for days...

  • The bullet needs to be larger then the bore for a proper seal in order to gain pressure. 7.62 or .30cal is the diameter of the bore. Most .30cal rifles use a .308 or .309cal bullet. The bullet is compressed as it travels down the barrel. I realize this was 2 years ago and got sorted out already I'm sure. I'm just putting in my 2 cents.

  • @tigerm48 rock river arms makes a AR in .243

  • I think the tree won

  • its the trees turn to shoot, and you better stand just as still ! !

  • @garvinsnow

for sure always keep ammo prices in mind, thats wat racks up the bills. in canada i found a guy that can sell me 1200 rnds for 200 so like 17 cents a bullet u cant go wrong

  • @garvinsnow I would recomend the sks. ammo is cheaper, the gun is usualy cheaper than the 243s. its semi auto while most if not all 243s are bolt. but if u want a deer rifle i would take the 243. anything else... targets, vermin gun, whatever... go sks. and trygar1987 is totaly right about the recoil. sks has none and the 243 has tramendous kick for its size
