Brad Paisley and Tommy Emmanuel

As I browse through YouTube watching Tommy's videos there are two things which always reach out and touch me. The first is the utter joy Tommy shows when he plays. The second is that while Tommy has the talent to play circles around just about anyone, when he shares the stage with another player, he plays with them, often taking the "secondary" role and letting them take the staring role. I have yet to see Tommy live in concert struck with how much a gentleman he seems to be.

I certainly like Brad a lot, but to label him as the best country music artist is really just immature, and obviously strongly biased. There are many country music instrumentalists, lyricists, and vocalists who are far better than he is.

Just a couple quick examples (there are many many more), Merle Haggard is worlds ahead of Brad as a singer/songwriter, and Vince Gill is far ahead of Brad as both a guitarist and a singer. Albert Lee is many times better than Brad as a guitarist. Etc Etc

Ya know... I'd really barely even heard of, and never paid any attention to Brad Paisley before seeing this. I had just dismissed him as another twangy, slow country singer...

Boy was I wrong! Anybody who can stand on stage with Tommy and hold their own like What I just witnessed is certainly deserving of my , and anybody's respect!

@fingerstylefan this showdown or should i say friendly jam, was obviously a tad bit out in the out of control zone for brad. He sounded ok in a couple of places, but definelty skiing in the out of bounds. wheres as T E never seems to look flustered, ever! it makes me sick

Ha! The audience didn't seem to know who Tommy Emmanuel was when introduced... They know who he is now!!!!!

PS. My San Diego guitarist, who is a bad arse in his own right, has nothing but high praise for BP's skills on the sixer. Never really listened to him before. Glad I did. He can bring it!
