On the 26th of June 2010 the last passenger service on the DVLR was run so I held an open day to commemorate the closing of my little railway. There were many different visiting locos many of which didn't run unfortunately due to clearances and large flanges banging against the chairs on my fine scale track. We had a large amount of visitors throughout the day who popped in to see what all the fuss was about. The DVLR fleet got a really good run and it was great fun to operate my working telegraph system with other people. As other people were driving the trains about I had time to enjoy my railway and take some different camera shots. The DVLR will soon be de constructed and no one would ever have known it was there. However, look out for my up coming series of videos "Chronicles of the DVLR" in which I hope to tell the story of my railway
Rest in Peace DVLR

  • @haroldtheshunter

As there were no passengers and the railway made a significant loss throughout its life.

I look forward to the new line, and its new 32mm gauge and black roof policy :)

  • Sir,

The directors of the Mossley Light Railway have asked me to convey their distress at the demise of the DVLR. The loss of a railway is a loss to everyone.

On behalf of all at the MLR may I express our hope that the DVLR will soon be steaming once more.

    Yours, etc.,

    Magnus Fishdyke

    Secretary to the MLR board

  • An enjoyable but also sad video. RIP DVLR

  • Great video Mr Bond, a fitting end to the DVLR
