Sherman Alexie was born in 1966 and has written prose as well as poetry. His is most notably known for his collection of short stories, "The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven" and for his new, semi-autobiographical book, "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian".
If given the chance, I recommend viewing the form of this poem. It has very interestingly placed parentheses that make the poem a bit more lively.
