  • very comprehensive look at the history of the galleon trades. but, you forgot to mention the harsh working conditions Filipinos endured during the shipbuilding as well as the voyages they embarked upon. also, you forgot to mention that Filipinos aboard the ship jumped, landing in Louisiana to establish one of the very first Filipino settlements in the United States. also, the ship landed in Morro Bay in 1587, marking the first ever recorded date that Filipinos came to the United States.

  • thanks for viewing! :) the things you mentioned were discussed in our report in class. this video is only an introduction. :)

  • Well, I didn't claim that the Galleons were Filipino. I just said that they were built by Filipinos who were then under Spain. Watch again. :)

  • Informative and lively! !Que bueno!

  • thank you!!! :D

  • The Native Filipinos set up the tradings with the mollucanss, spice islanders, southeast asians and chinese way before Spain came. Spain only thought they could use it and get the benefits of it... but it was native islanders who developed the trading system within the Asian neighbors. Do you really think when Spain came, that was the only time the Chinese, Indonesians, Malays and other SEAs neighbors decided to trade with Native Filipinos?

  • Fact along with the Galleon spice/goods trade there were also exchange of people, of course this is a natural occurance since immigrants from trading countries eventually settle in their adopted lands, many Native American Indios settled in the Phillipines and hundreds of thousands more native Filipino Indios married locals and settled in Western Mexico.

  • Nice! please visit the video "De Muertos en Manila" and vote in the link I hope you like it...I entered a short film contest for Mexican expats in which I documented my first impressions about moving to Manila…

I made it up to the judged finals and is now shortlisted for to win the competition… However this second stage of the contest is done by general vote…

So we need your support for the short film… and as per the rules of the contest it was shot with my cellphone… Thank you!

  • thank u very much ! i've researched manila acapulco galleon trade in google and i've seen this ! thank u very much ! we hav a test tomorrow ! and i am studying this video now for our exma tomorrow thanks !!! =)))

  • thanks for this! this will be my report in Phil. history!

  • ang papel ng mga pinoy sa galleon trade ay hindi tulad ng mga kastila tayo ay isa lang sa mga pahenante o kargador na sapilitang pinagtatarbaho ng mga kastila!

  • Some people say that Mayans and aztecs are originally came from Asia.

  • Mabuhay ang culturang Pinoy pero our culture is also partly spanish we have to admit that.

  • Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! ang mga Bangsamoro! at lahat ng mga Katutubong ninuno ng Pilipinas! FUCK SPAIN! SPAIN SHOULD BE RENAMED AGAIN AS "AL ANDALUZ"

  • @panzergrenadier88 it's clear that nobody is claiming the galleon, galleons originated in Spain and filipinos were just brothers. if u just know the Philippine history, looking back when the Phils. was colonized by Spain for 333yrs. then u will realize why most galleons were built by filipino hundreds of yrs. ago...

  • @panzergrenadier88

I can't believe how ignorant you can be. The tobacco coming from Ilocos and abaca were the biggest source of income for Spain in the Manila-Acapulco trade. And speaking of gold, the Philippines is the world's second largest source of gold. Second only to Africa.

  • mexicans are because we are aztec. resentful of the spanish side if philipinos are happy about spain coquering them well that's there personal problem.
