My best friend is also friends with Elisabeth Fies and that's how I learned about Chauntal - by going to my friend's house to watch The Commune. As I watched the movie, I wondered "Who's that girl? She's gorgeous!"
I started reading Chauntal's blog and tweets not long after and I am duly impressed by her positive outlook on life; it's infectious!
I showed my 8-year-old son this video tonight. He has a so-called "disability" as well and Chauntal is an excellent role model!
I can relate, also. October 8, 2009 I was in an automobile accident and lost my left arm halfway between the shoulder and elbow. I was also pregnant at the time, and really unsure about how I would handle being a one-armed mom. My daughter was born May 5, 2010 - healthy, 8lbs. 3oz., and I have really done okay. It is really amazing how the human body can adapt. Believe and become really is the key. Best wishes, Chantel, from a "sister".
I can very much relate. 10 years ago I contracted a spinal syndrome that left me paralyzed from the waist down. When the docs explained everything to me, I said "okay, this thing didn't kill me though, so lets get me out of this hospital ASAP, because I have a life to get back to."
I have the privilege to have known Chauntall since she was a toddler. She was my next door neighbor. She has always been a remarkable girl. Good luck and God bless you.
