These baskets and planters are engineered to grow plant roots for about 4 weeks. Then all the plants put their energy into growing food and throwing blossoms everywhere. They really are amazing! In a normal 4 season growing area, they work perfectly. Average season is Mother's Day through first hard frost.
I'm in Santa Cruz CA now to see how to efficiently grow them year round for zone 9. It may be that I will plant twice a year with different varieties.
