On December 7, the RATE Coalition hosted a briefing on Capitol Hill to discuss lowering the corporate tax rate and reforming the tax code.
The event was moderated by RATE Co-Chairs Elaine Kamarck and James Pinkerton and featured remarks from Chairman Pat Tiberi and Ranking Member Richard Neal of the House Subcommittee on Special Revenue Measures.
The event also included two discussion panels. The first featured Jim Zrust (The Boeing Company), Wayne Monfries (Nike) and Bill Blaylock (Texas Instruments). The second consisted of Doug Holtz-Eakin (American Action Forum), Scott Hodge (Tax Foundation) and Paul Weinstein (Johns Hopkins University).
The panelists discussed the problems with the current U.S. tax system and the benefits of reform such as improved competitiveness of U.S. business and additional investment.
