I can't think of anything worse than losing grasp of reality.As a child my grandfather was beset by Alzheimer's.I remember feeling a sense of pure terror imagining myself in his place;nescient of reality.I saw a once brilliant man become incapable of basic reason.Instead he clung onto fragments of beliefs that remained;often unintelligible.I would try to read to him hoping he would understand once again;he never did.The lesson I learned was to try to educate myself before opening my mouth.

Sorry, the story doesnt begin in 1953, rather the early 1940's when US Allies (GB and USSR) invaded Iran because they were neutral and Allies didn't want Iran to fall into Nazi hands (yeah, right - way on the other side of earth). However, having control of their oil during wartime is quite handy. The Shah wrote FDR to protest this action. FDR sent a gibberish reply, essentially sshowing no sympathy..

During the cold war, leaders stated that they would like to wipe communism from the face of the earth - did that mean that these leaders wished to murder every citizen of the soviet union? of course not.
