United Nations, New York, 18 May 2010 - A greeting from President Lula da Silva of Brazil, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations Jorge Sampaio, ahead of the Third Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, taking place in Rio de Janeiro on 27-29 May 2010.
The UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) is an international effort to build the cultural conditions for peace between countries and within communities. Launched by the UN Secretary-General in 2005, and co-sponsored by the governments of Spain and Turkey, today the Alliance is a thriving societal coalition of over 100 governments and international organizations, leading businesses, academic and research centers, civil society organizations, and faith groups, dedicated to building a more peaceful and tolerant world.
The Third Forum of the UNAOC will bring together approximately 2,000 political and corporate leaders, mayors, civil society activists, youth, journalists, foundations, international organizations, and religious leaders in order to agree on joint actions to improve relations across cultures and tackle the root causes of extremism in societies.

@timstoys02 Do not worry, they're just being hypocrites. A serious global organization has ever been possible and never will be.
