Thanks to VirtualDub I am able to cut down on the gigantic black side bars and the touch screen for your viewing pleasure.

In this episode we take on Nacrene City Gym Leader Lenora, who specializes in Normal-type Pokemon. Of course, they are easily disposed of with a strong Fighting-type Pokemon. A wild Throh/Sawk (White/Black version exclusives) and Timburr can be captured just west of town. I wanted to have a little more fun than that with this battle so I used a Normal-type instead and soloed her with it. I chose Audino which has very high HP and defense parameters.

To compensate for the lack of attack power and speed, I use X Speed and Work Up (which we obtained from the previous Gym). My Audino is male and Lenora's Pokemon are female so I also employed an Attract strategy to stall while I get my stats up for the fight. I also prepared an X Defend although Herdier negated it with Leer.

Lenora's strategy centers on use of Herdier's Take Down, which happens to be overwhelmingly powerful on Pokemon with low defense, and her Watchog's Retaliate, which will deal massive amount of damage if it is used the turn after Herdier faints. For some reason, she did not use Retaliate here. Bring some Chesto Berries and Awakening to the fight since her Watchog has Hypnosis. Lenora has a Super Potion on her so look out for that.

Upon winning the battle, you win a Basic Badge and TM67 containing Retaliate. The badge name is pretty lackluster, but no big deal.

  • @UpstartDJ Thanks for the quick comment. 8D

Yeah, you can see that I'm a huge fan of those super annoying strategies. But it's just karma that I'm probably going to end up on the receiving end of the same tactics one of these days.

I'm loving all of this game's music. x)

  • I think the simple badge name (Basic) links with the simplicity of Normal type pokemon. Normal = Basic (Even though they're not really basic, given they learn a multitude of elemental attacks and quite often can defend, attack or even both :P). But again another infuriating tactic used but a very handy one :D Well played. Dont you just love the music switch when the Pokemon leader is down to their last Pokemon :P .
