Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of KARATEKA on the Atari 7800 video game console system, also known as the Atari 7800 PROSYSTEM. This is a martial arts fighting action game where you are a karate master fighting for your honor (and for a hot babe locked in a dungeon!) This is regarded as one of the worst games on the Atari 7800 and suffers from awful, terrible controls. Fight through various levels and bad guys, use martial arts skills but don't expect fast and exciting gameplay. Karateka is not Ninja Gaiden, Samurai Shodown or Revenge of Shinobi. This is more like watching grass grow mixed with Karate Kid II. Be sure to watch the original Classic Game Room episodes. The correct pronunciation is kara-tay-ka. A karate practitioner is called a karateka.

Damn it Mark, I have to say I played and loved this game at an early age and never had so much trouble with the controls, I guess you just have/had access to too many games while some of us would only stick around with two or three games on the old school pc's.

I just found out this game is being remade for XBLA and PSN, no footage just yet but it'll be out late this year.

I had this game as a kid, and it really was tough to progress through. Got quite far a couple of times, but like the reviewer says, it's largely down to chance due to the game's bad design and lag.
