Japanese Neighborhood Warning System

All over Japan, loudspeakers are set up to alert people of fires, deaths, anything deemed important. They are also used, however, for slightly less urgent announcements, too...

What a beautiful country! No Mexican gang members like in Los Angeles.
All nice and quiet. A nice play to live and work. I'm moving to Asia!

I also live in So-Cal. it is friggen hideous, especially all the valley communities. I woud love to live in city Japan.僕もカリフォルニアに住んでいる。醜怪だと思ってい る特に渓谷にあるコミュニティ。日本に住みたいでっす。;3・・ ・日本語が下手けど

Well done! These speaker systems are a menace to anyone who likes peace and quiet. However, particularly in rural districts, they are a convenient way of telling the Japanese to be careful of fire, to vote on election day, to watch over young children returning from school, to be on the lookout for senile people who have gone walkabout, to wear seatbelts when driving, and so on. Whether or not they can be useful in the event of a major earthquake is another matter.
