A short film showing the buildings of the 1901 Pan-American Exposition during the day and lit up at night. President McKinley was shot while attending this Exposition. From the Library of Congress.
Was looking for this after reading about the expo. Awesome footage! McKinley was assassinated in the dome building on the left (which you can see at the end of the video)
No hemp. Horse hair. It was called "staff" and was used in every exposition and world's fair. Most had one permanent building; the Buffalo * Erie County Historical Society was the NY State building that survived to this day.
Beautiful "in camera" effect by Edison and his Camera Opertator. shot a pan in daylight with an apeture down-rolled the film back and continued the pan and apetured up at night. wonderful!!!!!
credits to Porter.

every single thing in that shot was gone 1 year later. The buildings and facade's were made mostly of a paper-mache material made out of Hemp.
