It's remarkable to hear what Albee says about Off-Broadway, Broadway and television back then, and then seeing how much as changed over the years.
Broadway is full of movie adaptations and jukebox musicals, for the most part, while television is in the middle of another Golden Age.

I love Albee's work. "Virginia Woolf" might just be my favorite play. "A Delicate Balance" is also incredible.

Honestly, Sam Shepard and Mamet were both already well-established playwrights at the time; it was no prediction. Shepard was a year away from the Pulitzer (Buried Child was only a few months away from the first production at The Magic Theatre in San Fran.) and Mamet had just recently had American Buffalo on Broadway. He also gives a backhanded compliment to Mamet -- does the brain match the ear.

Fantastic. Love his comments on the critics and his predictions that Shepherd and Mamet have a fine future ahead of them, back from 1978. Fascinating footage. I echo albeefan above - any more footage/interviews please post, we'd be most grateful. THANKS.
