On the same week of the COP17, Connect.Euranet debated global warming with the EU Commissioner for Climate Action Connie Hedegaard. Discussing the topic of the debate "Climate Change: The Forgotten Crises?" were from students of Bonn Campus (Germany), Radio Kampus Warsaw (Poland), Vigo University (Spain) and Trinity FM (Ireland), all members of the Euranet University Circle. The debate took place in the European Parliament in Brussels.
Commissioner Connie Hedegaard reiterated the EU's willingness to make progress in the battle against climate change when she explained to the students: "Europe is saying we are ready, we want to build a bridge to the future, but we are putting conditions to that. What is the point of Europe making the bridge to the future, when nobody wants to follow us in the future. If the US and China and the others are not ready now, we need to know in Durban when then are you ready."
