That's not true, it's not as if they're being careful to ensure nothing gets on the columns as they cut them, the debris could come from them cutting a column nearby, or even just pushing that column to the side for the time being before they took it away.

There's so many benign explanations for this it's asinine to speculate.

@Alaskaslim - A surprising photo you referenced. What I wish we had was a better quality video, film date and time. Demolition did not begin until after "recovery operations" came to an end. It is so unfortunate "they" were in such a rush to ship off all the steel to China.

@Alaskaslim - The column would have had to be cut first, thus exposing the cut surface to damage. If the column was intact when the debris (maybe concrete slab) fell and left the damage, the cut edge would not have debris on it. The temps of plasma or torch cutting burns away anything and would not have left clean white streak consistant with the white streak left of the sides. Personally, I would never cut bearing steel with tons of debris overhead.

cont... The force of the plasma flow literally blows out the molten steel area on the column, creating a fairly clean cut with little or no slag. The plasma arc travels through the nozzle at a speed of up to 20,000 feet per second, and at temperatures as high as 30,000F. However, all the removed liquefied steel doesn't just disappear, it is blown as high speed against the inner side of the column. Albeit the video resolution is poor, but I don't see splatter debris.

@Alaskaslim - That's a possibility. But the box column cut was made prior to the column's secondary injuries. I can't imagine someone using a plasma cutter with large pieces of concrete and steel looming overhead. Here we have layers of evidence, We know the main cut came first, because physical evidence is found on the cut. If the white powder and gouge were limited to the faces only, I would agree with you 100%

How about evidence that doesn't take place DURING the clean up, when workers were ADMITTEDLY using tools to cut steel, in just that manner?
