It has been a couple years since we last did a Japanese literbike shootout, because, frankly, the field has been quite stagnant for a while (save for Kawasaki's total revamp of the ZX-10R last year). It took them another year, but Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha have all tweaked their respective contenders for 2012 - the CBR1000RR, GSX-R1000 and YZF-R1, have significant changes, while Kawasaki returns for 2012 with the same traction-control-equipped machine it introduced last year, confident of its chances.

Motogp? You're comparing the M1 to the R1, COMPLETELY different motorcycle. Even the AMA superbikes compared to these are probably atleast $50K+ & the world's best motorcycle mechanics working on them. Also these guys are pretty good riders, no doubt that they would tear your ass up on a track. I've seen that blonde hair guy rip in some other videos, I think he may be a ex pro rider.

So by your logic we should just forget about technological advances because they make bikes faster and riding safer. Makes TOTAL sense. You should go teach this to those boring GP/Isle of Man type racers who never crash because their traction control eliminates the possibility of making mistakes on their bikes. What a great idea! How did I not think of this, oh my goodness!

TC is for bitches. I can see having it on the street, but for track, and especially in competition, it shouldnt even be allowed. Having throttle control so you dont spin out and dump the bike should be part of the skill required to race and compete. If you can just go 100% throttle off a corner and let the bike do all the throttle control for you, seriously, where is the skill. you have no risk, which makes for lame competition.

I like how they said ECU flash could bring it to the top of the pack. They did their research. Yamaha restricted the bike heavily via ECU. It won't even let the throttle fully open until you flash it. WTF yamaha, did you WANT to lose every shootout on purpose?

On that dirt track they're testing on, they might need TC. But not at the fkn pace they were riding at. If you're going to slam a bike for sliding because of cold tyres.. On track? Then get yourself some warmers and TRACK tyres. This is jst a bunch of guys talking shit about motorcycles more talented than they are
