gawzrocks, you picked a great intro to the Dead. As one who came to the fold later, I was lucky to see them twice before Jerry died. Enjoy your journey into a great band with a great history!

i guess the "anthem of the sun" album is the most floating messed up album supposedly sounds a bit like the live shows from the "acid test" scene, with recording equipment used to make echoes and loops and other fx , the other records are pretty straight in terms of the build of the tracks and recording technology. the early live recordings are more improvised, alien and disorienting than the later.
