The year of 2007 is a significant one for the city of Cannes and its world renowned film festival. Le Festival de Cannes is celebrating its 60 years of existence and with this special birthday comes the opportunity to reflect upon the gradual transformation of this influential and important international event. We hope to examine Canne's development through the eyes of those that know best, the people that have lived in Cannes and worked with the festival through the years. How has the festival changed? How does it compare to the infamous glory days of the 1950s and 60s and the elegant "Old Hollywood" era? How have the films and film culture transitioned? What is the likely future of the festival? What has or has not been accomplished within the last 60 years? How has the festival impacted the city? What role has Cannes played within our society?
